Culture & Langues: bilingualism beyond the classroom

Benefits for language learning
An important aspect of bilingual learning is providing students with different environments and contexts in which they can develop and practice their language skills: exchanges between teachers and students in are classroom environment; however, exchanges between peers outside a traditional pedagogical framework offer students different opportunities and challenges to develop their language skills.

Cours Molière’s programme Cultures et langues, allows Collège students to practice their language skills, while participating in activities that engage their curiosity and allow them to share their diverse backgrounds and experiences. Taking language learning outside of the classroom creates opportunities for building confidence and creating relationships.

Outline and activities
Cultures et langues runs on Friday afternoons, with activities proposed in both English and French. We propose a vast range of activities from school newspaper and comic workshops to musical production and performance. Students participate in debates, learn to repair bicycles and discover the history of Paris. Regardless of the activity, the focus is on exchange between students: groups are mixed across classes and students meet teachers outside the framework of a traditional classroom environment.

Paris as classroom
Students also benefit from the central Paris location of the Montmorency campus: students are accompanied on excursions to explore the rich history of the city around.
